Mark Cuban, billionaire entrepreneur and vocal critic of SEC Chair Gary Gensler, recently met Gensler in a CNBC green room. According to Cuban, he told Gensler that the SEC's regulatory approach to crypto is pushing industries overseas, but he feels Gensler didn't understand the consequences. Cuban believes that Gensler sees himself as a valiant fighter against a new threat to the world. He compared Gensler's approach to that of Elizabeth Warren, who is known for her hardline stance against crypto. Cuban is now trying to schedule a follow-up meeting with Gensler to further discuss these issues. Cuban, who previously expressed interest in becoming SEC chair if Kamala Harris becomes president, now admits that it was just a ploy to send a message to Gensler and the SEC. He stated that he doesn't want the position but wanted the conversation to happen. Cuban told the Harris camp that he should be interviewed for the position to change the tenor of the Biden Administration's approach to crypto.
