The founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, praised the launch of Soneium, a business-grade L2 chain, for serving the priorities of both businesses and users. He highlighted that L2 technology allows businesses to choose the level of control they want to give to users. Buterin noted that despite token censorship actions taken by Soneium, the transparency and traceability of the L2 chain are maintained. He mentioned that Soneium is currently at Stage 0 of decentralization and emphasized the importance of fully decentralized security for L2 chains. Soneium recently disclosed its intention to freeze tokens that violate intellectual property rights, and Buterin stated that flow control is possible as long as users are aware of the on-chain limitations. He also mentioned that Soneium's approach to IP infringement includes a grace period and an appeals process for developers. The frozen tokens included memes related to Sony's brands. The launch of Soneium's mainnet has attracted more value and activity, and the chain is dedicated to protecting creator rights and limiting meme tokens' usage. Soneium has joined the blob economy and incurred minimal fees on its first day. The chain's usage of calldata allows users to bypass token censorship and directly push transactions to Ethereum, although this workaround requires technical knowledge of Ethereum's ecosystem. Despite the inconvenience, Buterin emphasized that the process is transparent.
