The United States already holds more Bitcoin than any other government in the world. Some industry lobbyists are pushing for the US government to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, but this approach is seen as excessive and unnecessary. Other governments are not actively buying Bitcoin and even if the US government didn't buy any more Bitcoin, its current stockpile would still be sizable. Instead of focusing on a Strategic Reserve, efforts should be directed towards regulatory changes and easing barriers for the industry. The article argues that there are better ways to promote Bitcoin adoption and gain political capital than just advocating for the government to buy Bitcoin.
