Criminals in Turkey are targeting individuals interested in cryptocurrencies, with one businessman in Ankara losing 38 million liras ($4.3 million) to fraudsters posing as cryptocurrency exchange officials. The victim, referred to as BA, was contacted by someone claiming to be an official from a foreign-based exchange who promised high profits. After investing $250 as a trial, BA saw significant returns and withdrew his money. However, the fraudsters convinced BA to deposit more money into a fake cryptocurrency application, gaining access to his devices and stealing his account balance. BA realized the scam when he found no money in his account and subsequently reported a loss of 38 million lira to his lawyer. This incident highlights the need for caution and awareness when dealing with cryptocurrency investments.
