Cryptocurrency prediction platform Polymarket is intensifying its efforts to block US-based users as it experiences a surge in predictions favoring Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential elections. The platform is re-verifying user information, particularly for large-scale predictions, and performing additional checks to ensure compliance with its rules. This crackdown comes amidst speculation about Trump returning to the White House. It has been suggested that several large accounts on the platform may be controlled by the same person, collectively estimated to have over $43 million. Polymarket's presidential election marketplace has attracted a high trading volume of over $2.2 billion. Despite the ban on US users, the platform remains popular for election predictions. In early 2022, Polymarket was fined for offering illegal trading services by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and agreed to cease operations in the US but continue internationally.
