Spanish telecom company Telefónica has partnered with Privado ID to develop digital identity solutions using decentralized technology. Telefónica Tech, the company's digital business unit, will collaborate with Privado ID to create secure and privacy-centric services that comply with European regulations on digital identity. The partnership comes as the EU mandates that all member states provide digital identity wallets to their citizens by 2026. Privado ID specializes in privacy-focused digital identity solutions, and integration with Telefónica Tech's TrustOS platform will enhance content certification services and enable the issuance of secure and privacy-compliant verifiable credentials. The collaboration will also explore the development of age verification systems, e-signature solutions, and digital national identities. Telefónica has previously worked with Chainlink and Nova Labs in the blockchain space.
