tZero Group Inc., backed by Overstock, has announced that it has become a special purpose broker-dealer approved by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This status will allow tZero to offer custody services for customers' digital asset securities. The company plans to launch products under this new status early next year, starting with the digitisation of tZERO's Series-A preferred equity security. tZero's CEO, David Goone, stated that the special purpose broker-dealer status will enable them to offer safe, secure, and regulated custody services, among other innovative products.
