Ripple has announced that it has joined the global movement called Pledge 1%, in which companies commit to donating a portion of their profits to social causes. Through its Ripple Impact initiative, the company will donate 1% of its profits towards blockchain innovation, improving financial access, scaling carbon markets, and supporting community-driven projects led by employees. Since its launch in 2018, Ripple Impact has invested in projects promoting financial resilience and blockchain development, with a focus on supporting emerging markets and making the global financial system more inclusive. Ripple has also committed $80 million to partner with academic institutions through the University Blockchain Research Initiative, funding over 1,500 blockchain research projects globally. The company has partnerships with organizations like Mercy Corps Ventures and the International Rescue Committee to fund fintech startups and pilot blockchain-based humanitarian aid delivery. Additionally, Ripple has pledged $100 million towards scaling carbon markets and investing in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for carbon reductions. The company also supports employee-driven initiatives through collaborations with nonprofits like Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
