Paxos has acquired Finnish company Membrane Finance, gaining an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) status for the Euro area. This move aims to boost Paxos' compliance with EU law and allow its stablecoins to return to the Euro area market. The acquisition grants Paxos the ability to serve European customers safely and responsibly and positions it for further growth with the introduction of MiCA regulations. Membrane Finance specializes in bridging digital finance and crypto services, offering regulated stablecoins tailored to business projects. Paxos aims to issue compliant stablecoins and cover the requirement of reporting fiat reserves in accredited banking institutions. The acquisition aligns with Paxos' preparation for MiCA regulations and its focus on regulated tokenization of real-world assets. This move comes as Tether faces delistings on EU exchanges due to a lack of reliable banking services.
