OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, has addressed fans' speculation about the company's capabilities, particularly rumors of achieving General Artificial Intelligence (AGI). Altman contradicted previous statements and clarified that OpenAI will not be deploying AGI and has not built it yet. He urged fans to lower their expectations but assured them that the company is working on some "cool stuff." Other OpenAI staffers also tried to calm the online hype, emphasizing that while there are reasons to be optimistic about AI progress, research problems still need solutions and superintelligence has not been achieved. Altman previously stated that in the age of AI, asking great questions is more important than memorizing facts or knowing where to find them. He predicts that AI will not replace human intellect but will require human assistance in developing critical thinking skills and solving complex problems.
