Nigerian authorities have denied allegations made by Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan that officials in the country asked for bribes. Gambaryan had previously claimed that legislators in Nigeria demanded bribes from Binance representatives and denied allegations by Nigerian authorities of crypto manipulation. The government's statement also stated that the first trip made by Gambaryan to Nigeria was not officially involved with the government and that an investigation was opened only after learning of the bribery allegations. Gambaryan responded, stating that the government has been involved since the beginning and criticized the government's version of events. The Nigerian government detained Gambaryan in February, charging him with a crime, while his colleague escaped. The statement from the government encouraged Gambaryan to prove his allegations in court.
