Nigerian authorities have arrested 792 individuals, including foreigners, involved in an online romance scam that targeted victims from Europe and America. The suspects posed as romantic partners and convinced victims to invest in a fraudulent cryptocurrency project. The masterminds of the scam, who were foreigners, used the Lagos den to train local accomplices in online phishing. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) believes that the foreign nationals were solely responsible for the scamming. The EFCC has been cracking down on digital asset crime in the country recently.
