Bukele and his administration have remained committed to Bitcoin and have introduced initiatives such as Bitcoin-backed bonds and Bitcoin embassies. Following Menendez's conviction, Bukele banned him from entering El Salvador and made adjustments to the country's Bitcoin strategy, making acceptance of the cryptocurrency voluntary for businesses.
