According to a report by MV Global, the decentralized science (DeSci) sector is expected to experience significant growth in 2025, driven by the emergence of utility memecoins. DeSci involves integrating blockchain technology into scientific research, aiming to enhance transparency, decentralization, and collaboration. The report highlighted the evolution of DeSci projects, with approximately 30 active initiatives covering various areas such as research funding, health data management, and open-source research. It also pointed out the emergence of DeSci-specific memecoins, with two projects, Rifampicin and Urolithin A, gaining notable traction. These memecoins are linked to specific scientific experiments and offer more utility compared to traditional memecoins. MV Global predicts the scaling of Pump.Science, the platform behind these memecoins, with at least 10 projects expected to surpass $100 million in market capitalization by the end of 2025. The report also forecasts growth in health data management and collaborative open-source research, with projects like Hippocrat and ResearchCoin projected to reach a market valuation of at least $200 million. Additionally, the report expects the number of DeSci projects to increase, with at least 50 projects listed by the end of 2025.
