JPMorgan Chase has paid over $40 billion in fines and settlements related to various violations and misconduct, according to a corporate misconduct database. In the last seven quarters alone, the bank has paid $2 billion to settle accusations of criminal misconduct, regulatory violations, market manipulation, and alleged involvement in enabling Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking activities. Recently, JPMorgan settled five allegations simultaneously with US regulators, paying $151 million. The bank now faces "several hundred" open legal cases, including government actions and private lawsuits. Despite the settlements, JPMorgan generated $49.55 billion in profit in 2023.
