Simon's Cat (CAT), a cat-themed memecoin, jumped 50% and reached a record high of $0.000067 after receiving a listing on Binance. Trading volumes increased significantly, and open interest in the token's future products nearly doubled. Binance also announced that it would offer airdrops of CAT to users who staked specific amounts of BNB tokens. CAT holds the fourth-largest market cap among cat-themed memecoins. CAT's spot listing on Binance is significant as non-IP memecoins face legal challenges. Tokens backed by intellectual property have a stronger legal position and are less likely to face legal action from IP holders. The listing of CAT comes as another cat-themed memecoin, PNUT, received a cease-and-desist letter from the owner of Peanut the Squirrel, who accused Binance of trademark infringement. CAT has the advantage of being officially licensed to the Simon's Cat brand, which earned $5.8 billion in revenue last year.
