An Indiana man, Evan Frederick Light, has been convicted and sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his involvement in a crypto heist worth millions of dollars. Light pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to launder monetary instruments. He will also be under supervision for three years after his release and has been ordered to pay a $200 special assessment to the Federal Victims Fund and restitution of about $37 million. The 22-year-old carried out the majority of his operations from his mother's basement in Lebanon, Indiana. The FBI played a crucial role in investigating the case and recovering a significant portion of the stolen cryptocurrency.
