U.S. Congressman Mike Collins has acknowledged purchasing the meme coin Ski Mask Dog (SKI) and another token, according to data platform Unusual Whales. Collins stated that he bought the coins because he liked them and believes the crypto industry deserves respect. Following his disclosure, the price of Ski Mask Dog more than doubled to hit an all-time high of $0.24, with a market cap exceeding $200 million. Collins also reported purchasing the cryptocurrency Aerodrome (AERO), which saw a 15% increase in price. Collins has filed six Periodic Transaction Reports this year, disclosing his crypto trading activity. Previous purchases include Ethereum, Velodrome, and The Graph. Collins is not the first politician to invest in meme coins, as former Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn made undisclosed purchases of "Let's Go Brandon" (LGB), resulting in a fine by the United States House Committee on Ethics. Collins believes meme coins should be treated like any other asset.
