Apple has agreed to pay up to $95 million to settle claims that its voice assistant, Siri, recorded conversations without permission and potentially shared the data with advertisers. While Apple denies any wrongdoing, it has agreed to compensate U.S. users up to $100 per household. To qualify for the settlement, users must have owned a qualifying device between September 2014 and December 2024, and they must submit a claim by May 15, 2025. The settlement covers a range of Apple devices, and users can receive $20 per device, with a maximum payout of $100 per household for up to five devices. The settlement also requires Apple to permanently delete all Siri audio recordings collected before October 2019. Similar privacy violation lawsuits have been filed against other tech giants such as Google and Amazon.
