The Holesky testnet for Ethereum has finally achieved finality after a two-week delay caused by a configuration bug. Epoch 119,090 marked the completion of the necessary blocks for finality, with over two-thirds of validators validating the network. The Pectra upgrade, which introduced enhancements such as gas payments in non-ETH tokens and higher staking limits, was not the cause of the delay. Restoration efforts have been made to stabilize nodes and prune old states in order to fully revive the testnet for further testing. The Sepolia testnet, also running the Pectra upgrade, initially achieved finality but later faced issues with empty blocks caused by a flawed deposit contract, which has since been resolved.
