Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has urged Apple to withdraw from the UK in response to the government's demand for "blanket" access to encrypted data on iCloud. The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) called the order dangerous and a threat to digital privacy. Buterin believes that leaving the UK market would protect Apple's encryption. In the past, he praised Apple for adding end-to-end encryption to iCloud backups but criticized the company for its closed-source approach and lack of competition in app stores.
