The Ethereum Foundation has donated $1.25 million to support the legal defense of Alexey Pertsev, who is appealing his conviction and prison sentence for money laundering. The foundation's donation is in response to concerns that software developers could be held criminally liable for the actions of others. This follows a similar $1.25 million donation by Paradigm to aid Tornado Cash's co-founder, Roman Storm, in his legal defense. Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, also contributed 50 ETH to a legal defense fund for Pertsev and Storm. Pertsev was arrested for his involvement in a crypto mixing service and later found guilty of money laundering.
