Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E) has been asked to investigate whether Fort Knox actually holds the amount of gold it claims to have. The US Treasury claims that Fort Knox holds $425 billion worth of gold, but the last time anyone saw it was in 2017. Senator Rand Paul and Senator Cynthia Lummis called for an official audit of the reserves and Lummis suggested replacing gold with Bitcoin. Lummis has already introduced the BITCOIN Act in the Senate to create the first official Bitcoin reserve in the US. Trump has endorsed the idea, which could influence Congress's decision on the reserve. States such as Pennsylvania, Texas, Wyoming, Arizona, and Wisconsin are also exploring state-based Bitcoin reserves.
