Elon Musk plans to cut $4 billion from the US government's budget every day until September 30 as part of his mission at the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E). He aims to reduce the federal deficit for fiscal year 2026 from $2 trillion to $1 trillion. Musk's team has already canceled over $1 billion in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility contracts, which he described as wasteful and dangerous. The cancellations saved taxpayers $1 billion, and Musk believes inflation is solely caused by government spending. He also supports using blockchain technology to track government spending for transparency and fraud prevention. The plan has received support from figures like Binance founder Changpeng Zhao and Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson. Others, like XRP lawyer John Deaton, are calling for similar spending cuts in different states.
