A man named Berman Jerry Nowlin, Jr., also known as "Repulse" and "Zayous," has been convicted by a federal jury in Tampa, Florida, for orchestrating a rug pull scheme involving NFTs. Nowlin and his codefendant, Devin Alan Rhoden, created NFT collections on the Solana blockchain and used the success of the initial collections to defraud investors by releasing a third collection and abandoning it, leaving investors with worthless NFTs. The scheme resulted in Nowlin and Rhoden receiving nearly $400,000 in cryptocurrency from hundreds of victims worldwide. Nowlin's sentencing is set for Jan. 23, 2025. Rhoden has already pled guilty to similar charges.
