DC Wallet has announced a partnership with AFC India Limited, owned by the Indian government, to promote the adoption of the digital rupee. This initiative follows a successful test of the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) on Ripple's XRP ledger by the Reserve Bank of India. The partnership aims to provide closed loop wallet solutions to sectors such as agriculture, education, and travel, with a potential reach of over 200 million users. It also aims to integrate DC Wallet with public and private sector banks to serve India's unbanked and underbanked population and offer cost-effective cross-border payments. This partnership reflects a similar development in Brazil where the Central Bank partnered with crypto firms for a new CBDC.
