PitchBook analyst Robert Le predicts that venture capital (VC) funding in the crypto sector will be much stronger in 2025 compared to 2024. He expects to see $18 billion or more invested into crypto, a 50% increase from 2024. Despite a challenging year for crypto funding in 2023, Le believes that 2024 will end with around $11-12 billion of invested capital, which is still a 10 to 20% increase compared to the previous year. Le attributes the positive momentum in 2024 to the approval of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). He also anticipates a shift in focus towards application-layer investments in the crypto sector, moving beyond infrastructure projects. Le highlights the importance of regulatory clarity for the growth of the crypto industry and expresses cautious optimism about the U.S. regulatory environment in 2025. He believes that a stable regulatory environment, along with growing institutional involvement and application-focused investments, could lead to significant advancements in the crypto sector in the coming years.
