The CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, believes that Bitcoin is a superior form of money compared to gold. He points out its advantages in terms of scarcity, portability, divisibility, utility, and performance. Armstrong suggests that countries with gold reserves should consider allocating at least 11% of those reserves to Bitcoin. He expressed confidence that Bitcoin's market cap could surpass that of gold within the next 5-10 years. In contrast, the South African Reserve Bank Governor, Lesetja Kganyago, opposes the idea of establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, questioning its strategic value as a government-held asset. Armstrong argues that governments should consider Bitcoin as a store of value and gradually increase their holdings over time. The idea of implementing Bitcoin reserves has gained traction in several US states, with bills being introduced to adopt Bitcoin as a strategic asset.
