A new report by blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis reveals that Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a group fighting in the Syrian Civil War, received a significant increase in cryptocurrency donations prior to their victory over Assad's government. According to the report, HTS saw a surge in crypto donations starting on November 27, the day they launched a new offensive. The report also highlights HTS's use of a sophisticated laundering scheme that made it difficult to trace the exact amount of funds received. Despite this, Chainalysis believes that further crypto involvement is unlikely for HTS due to regional instability and the group's strained relationships with nations like Russia and Iran.
