Mark Carney, a former central banker and crypto sceptic, has won the Liberal Party leadership race in Canada and is set to become the country's next prime minister. However, he has not participated in a general election and will be an unelected prime minister until a general election takes place in May. Carney, known for his roles as governor of Canada's central bank and the Bank of England, has been a climate activist and a member of the World Economic Forum board. He has been critical of cryptocurrencies but more enthusiastic about central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
