Seven British men have been sentenced to a combined 76 years in jail for kidnapping and brutally assaulting a man in an attempt to steal his cryptocurrency assets. The victim was kidnapped from his home in December and taken to a nearby property where he was tied to a bed and beaten. The attackers had visited the victim multiple times throughout 2023, threatening him to transfer his large crypto portfolio worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to them. The crimes involved the use of firearms and other weapons, and the victim had already paid over $124,250 to the criminals prior to the incident. This case highlights the increasing risk of targeted and violent home invasions against cryptocurrency holders.
