Atkins has actively supported the crypto sector since leaving the commission and is expected to bring a pro-innovation and pro-crypto approach to the agency if confirmed. Trump's transition team consulted with crypto industry leaders before making the decision, and the president-elect has also proposed establishing a "Crypto Advisory Council" and creating a "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve."
