Economics professor Özgür Demirtaş suggests that Turkey should switch to a cryptocurrency payment system in order to overcome difficulties in the tourism sector caused by the increasing value of the Turkish Lira and the weakening of the Russian economy. Demirtaş believes that accepting payments with cryptocurrency could attract new tourists and make Turkey attractive within the crypto ecosystem. He suggests several steps to popularize the use of cryptocurrencies in the tourism sector, including allowing businesses to accept cryptocurrency payments, distributing devices to businesses for payment processing, conducting educational studies, and emphasizing the transparency and trackability of crypto payments. Demirtaş sees this as a positive advertisement for the country.
