Description

Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a decentralized name system built on the Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to register and manage domain names that are associated with their Ethereum wallet(s). This service enables holders of cryptocurrency and other digital assets to easily manage and store their digital assets using a single, memorable name. For example, users of ENS can send ETH to their Ethereum wallet using “Bob.eth” instead of the traditional Ethereum address. ENS was founded in October 2017 by Nick Johnson, and is currently based in Singapore. The Ethereum Name Service is supported by a team of a dozen core contributors who focus on protocol development, community building, and security. ENS makes transferring and storing cryptocurrency hassle-free and increases user experience by allowing people to use a human-readable name as an identifier for a blockchain-based wallet. Its long-term goal is to enable users to send and receive ether, assets, and other digital items by simply utilizing usernames, similar to how emails are sent today. In addition to this, with the integration of web domains, the ENS could be used to link Ethereum wallets to web domains, providing both an easier method of user-identification and greater security. ENS can also be used to replace the need of a notary or escrow service in certain contractual situations. Rather than relying on a third party, users simply use their own ENS name to set up a contract that includes ether payments. This ensures that both parties can trust the transaction, as all contractual processes and payments can be tracked and monitored on the Ethereum blockchain. The Ethereum Name Service can be bought and sold through a variety of cryptocurrency exchanges, such as Binance, Huobi, and OKEx. Before buying ENS, users must make sure that the exchange supports their local currency. After getting an ENS token, users can assign it to a wallet (such as MetaMask, imToken, or MyEtherWallet) or store it in a hardware wallet for greater security. Overall, Ethereum Name Service is a revolutionary service for the cryptocurrency community. It improves usability by making it easy for users to send and receive the cryptocurrency and other digital assets associated with their Ethereum wallet via a simple and memorable name. Additionally, the integration of web domains into the ENS platform could provide better security than the traditional email system. While still in its early stages, the Ethereum Name Service has the potential to revolutionize how people interact and transact using the blockchain.
