Supply Chain Management (SCM)

The field of supply chain management (SCM) is concerned with the planning, design, and optimization of the flow of goods and services, as well as the related management of inventory and other resources, across the entire enterprise. The fourth major phase of SCM is distribution. This entails the distribution of the finished goods to their destination, including the appropriate packaging, labeling, and documentation. Having an efficient distribution system in place is crucial to ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of finished products.

The fifth and final process in SCM is returns. Allowing customers to return merchandise is a crucial element of customer satisfaction, as it allows them to make informed purchase decisions. Properly designed returns policies and procedures can help a company reduce costs and improve customer loyalty.
